Entomogenous galls and their associated fauna in deciduous dry forest and woodland vegetation remnants (Caatinga) in the Northern Depressão Sertaneja, Brazil

Abstract A survey and characterization of entomogenous galls their associated fauna were carried out in six remnants Caatinga the Northern Depressão Sertaneja, states Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte Ceará. We identified 41 gall morphotypes 24 plant species, belonging to 12 botanical families. Fabaceae had 29.2% (n = 12) total number found. Leaves (61%) stems (25%) most attacked organs. Most are glabrous (75.6%), while only 24.4% exhibit trichomes. induced by insects Cecidomyiidae family. The comprised successors, cecidophages, tenants, parasitoids. Sucessors found four included spiders orders insects: Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera (Formicidae). tenants represented Tanaostigmoides (Tanaostigmatidae). parasitoids, 18 (43.9%), families Hymenoptera. recorded occurrence new types species host plants.
